The first Intellectual Property Workshop organized under the CEREHA project was held at the Pastoral Hotel in Kfar-Blum, Israel, during October 13th-14th. The event featured presentations by five leading patent attorneys from the distinguished Patent law firm of Vossius & Partners located in München, Germany [Dr Paul Tauchner; Dr Elard Schenck; Dr Dirk Harmsen; Dr Frnak Bollmann; Dr Thure Schubert], as well as two high-ranking representatives from the European Patent Office [Dr Thanos Stamatopoulos and Dr Dieter Tzschoppe].

The first day started off with an introduction to IPR for non-specialists and focused on the patenting process before the EPO from the filing of an application to the grant of a patent, appeal against patent rejections and posting grant oppositions. The issue of patent valuation was discussed in a separate session.

The second day was geared towards a professional audience and focused on national patent litigation in Europe followed by lectures on the Unitary patent, scheduled to go into effect during 2014/15.

The workshop was open to the public and participants, in addition to MIGAL's researchers, came from all parts of Israel and included mainly patent lawyers.

Copies of the presentations are available here.
